Pipefitter

About the role

RQ is seeking skilled Pipefitters to support our Mechanical Operations team on projects located in Norfolk, VA. All work is performed on the military base and is paid the required Davis-Bacon prevailing wage, specific to the base.

Pipefitters are responsible for installing, assembling, laying out, and maintaining piping systems on commercial construction projects. This role requires producing high-quality work that meets project specifications, building codes, and industry standards while following all safety requirements.

RQ specializes in accelerated, ground-up commercial construction projects for both private and public-sector clients, with a significant concentration in Department of Defense construction and infrastructure work.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, lay out, and maintain piping systems on commercial construction projects
• Produce high-quality work that meets project specifications, building codes, and industry standards
• Adhere to all safety requirements

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. (minimal education required)
• Valid Pipefitter license or journeyman card or equivalent years of experience
• Strong pipefitting experience
• Proficiency with tools and equipment used in commercial mechanical installations
• Commitment to delivering safe, quality work
• U.S. work authorization and evidence of identity at time of hire
• Successful completion of drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check for military base access

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Mechanical Pipe Installation experience
• Deep underground experience
• Start-up and Energizing Experience (Boilers, Chillers)
• Valid Pipefitter license or journeyman card
• Current Welding certificate
• CPR, First Aid, and OSHA-10 certifications

Pay

$53.17 - $55.00 per hour
