Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders
- Thread and assemble steel pipe
- Prepare, fabricate, fit and install pipe to specifications
- Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
- Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
- Assemble, install and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
- Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards
- Work with other departments as needed
- Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints/schematics
- Perform material take-offs
- Investigate and complete piping repairs
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in either Industrial Pipefitting or Commercial Plumbing
- Basic knowledge of Plumbing & Mechanical Code
- Process piping system knowledge
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Requirements
- Hot tap
- Journeyman plumber license
- Cone and thread
- Victaulic certification
- NCCER pipe fitting certification
- Equipment & tool experience:
- Aerial lift Operation - Boom & Scissor Lift
- Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000#
- Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 8000#
- Telehandler
- Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical
- Trailer Loading and Securing of Material
- Rigging Requirements:
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials
- Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings
- Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners, and tag lines
- Identify common load configurations & positioning
- Rigger 1 training – trains on above
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height
- Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain
