Pipe Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Pipe belled properly and bedded soundly (no leaks, sags, deflections)
• Ability to shoot grades properly.
• Knowledge of pipe laying with pipe laser.
• Ability to perform utility testing (pressure testing, chlorination/sampling, mandrel, etc.).
• Equipment Operation/Maintenance
• Responsible for care/maintenance of compaction equipment.
• Perform daily inspection of tools, cables, etc. (Completes daily inspection forms).
• Responsible for care/maintenance/storage of tools and reports defects to Foreman each day.
• Able to operate support equipment well (including rubber tire backhoe, mini-excavator, skid steer, roller, loader, compaction equipment, etc.).
• Care and cleanliness of all inventory/small tools

Requirements

• Training and Experience
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
• Minimum of 1 year of construction experience or combination of education and experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of principals, methods and standards of the designated trade’s area.
• Experience in the use and methods of tools and equipment commonly employed with the trade.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Work involves sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to fifty pounds.
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, safety glasses, hard hat with chin strap, reflective safety vest, gloves, ear protection, face shield, safety toe boots
