Pipe Fitter

Normal work shifts: 7:00am – 3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining tools and equipment
• Perform various cleanup and housekeeping activities
• Read and interpret schematic drawings to determine work procedures and ensure proper placement and alignment of materials
• Apply basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals)
• Use pipe saws, cutting torch, pipe cutting machine, threading machine, and pipe bending tools
• Work with piping made from copper, iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloy metals, assembled by precise cutting, threading, grooving (Victaulic), or bending
• Use mechanical charts, conversion tables, and other industry-specific charts
• Cut pipe using saws, cutting torch, and/or pipe cutting machine
• Thread pipe using a pipe threading machine
• Bend pipe using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine
• Secure pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools
• Fit, assemble, and install a variety of metal pipe and fittings using appropriate assembly techniques
• Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy
• Work at various heights
• Move equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work atmosphere and job site

Requirements

• Basic knowledge within the pipefitting field
• 40 hours per week minimum
• Major tools & equipment to be furnished by employer
• Willingness to travel (positions available both on the road and in-house; new hires may start in the shop before road work)

Preferred Skills

• Experience reading and interpreting schematic drawings
• Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals)
• Familiarity with pipe saws, cutting torch, pipe cutting machine, threading machine, and pipe bending tools
• Ability to work with various metals and assembly techniques
