About the Role
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides leadership through collaboration with the Nursing Manager, planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating patient care. Responsibilities include fiscal, human resource, risk management, and operational functions, with 24-hour accountability. Contributes to strategic planning and program development while performing delegated duties within the philosophy and scope of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Delivers patient-centered nursing care in accordance with Wesley Medical Center standards
- Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality-of-care activities and process improvements
- Maintains professional knowledge, acts as a role model, and oversees direct nursing care
- Establishes and maintains effective communication in collaborative relationships
- Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills to access appropriate resources
- Secures, administers, and handles medication according to guidelines
- Assesses and evaluates staffing patterns based on patient acuity
- Assists in investigations, documentation, and resolution of complaints or incidents involving patients, visitors, physicians, and staff
- Participates in and enforces hospital life-safety, quality, and risk management policies
- Assists in developing and implementing department goals and objectives
- Assists with interviewing, hiring, orientation, and evaluation of staff performance
- Maintains department records and certifications as required
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment)
- Kansas or Multi-State Registered Nurse License
- 2 years of management experience
