About the role
The Person in Charge (PIC) position is a secondary work assignment that you must apply and be selected for. Your schedule will flex between your current role and the PIC role. When not scheduled as a PIC, all PIC responsibilities will default to the store management team, and you will resume the responsibilities of your current role.
Reports to Store Manager. Coordinates with store management, district manager, senior VP of store operations, area coordinators, hourly clerks and cashiers, as well as administrative office staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform opening and closing routines including execution of bank deposits and receipt of shipment
- Interpret and disseminate company directives when assigned as manager on duty
- Assist in operating a profitable store by controlling expenses and maintaining in-stock basics
- Practice good personnel skills and principles, consistently apply policies and procedures
- Ensure store is clean and in good repair
- Recognize and solve problems, control liabilities, and protect company assets
- Maintain a high level of employee morale and customer satisfaction
- Achieve and maintain a level of satisfaction and friendliness exceeding that of competing retail
- Handle leadership tasks as delegated by store managers
- Act as the manager on duty to address customer service, personnel, or maintenance issues
- Continue training, evaluation, and communication with employees
- Maintain in-stock position and presentation of all basic and promotional merchandise according to company standards
- Take action to reduce internal and external theft and waste
- Ensure adherence to and accuracy of cash handling, check acceptance, and accounting systems
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Control all sources of potential liability
- Improve sales objectives
- Enforce company policy and ensure a safe work environment free of harassment or unlawful discrimination
- Oversee employees unloading trucks, pricing merchandise, stocking shelves, or cashiering
- Provide leadership-by-example to employees in all areas of store operation and personal conduct
Pay
USD $19.60 - USD $23.20 per hour. Additional $2.00 per hour while scheduled as a PIC.
