Piano Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain concert, studio, rehearsal hall, and practice room pianos (approximately 70).
• Work with the chair to develop and institute a long-term plan for ongoing maintenance and replacement of pianos at the University.
• Provide oversight to the Department of Music instrument inventory.
• Maintain performance pianos (3) in “concert ready” condition for concerts and recitals.
• Maintain additional pianos in faculty studios, classrooms, and student practice rooms.
• Some evenings and weekends will be required for special concert tunings.
• Oversee the piano maintenance budget in coordination with the chair.
• Work with the faculty of the Department of Music to plan the maintenance, overhaul, moving and replacement of pianos.
• Organize, oversee, and train student workers.
• Serve as a staff resource for all students as it relates to general care and maintenance of musical instruments.
• Oversee the department’s concert band, jazz band, and marching band musical instrument inventory, including keeping accurate records of instrument checkout and return and providing a detailed instrument inventory at the conclusion of every semester.
• Other duties as assigned.
