Physics Laboratory Coordinator
About the Role
The Physics Laboratory Coordinator assists the physics lab supervisor in preparing for, executing, and evaluating 20 to 35 undergraduate laboratory sections per semester of introductory physics courses. This role is essential in supporting student success and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate teaching lab activity, including running training sessions, maintaining online lab instruction materials, teaching and assisting with lab sections as needed, tracking grading of lab assignments, and maintaining lab equipment inventory and storage.
- Supervise student employees, including hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and ending assignments.
- Support student success through teaching make-up lab sessions and supervising drop-in tutoring and TA office hours.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Education, plus relevant experience.
- Some exposure to laboratory or experiential learning (science labs, research, workshops, industry).
- Some instructional experience (teaching, TA, tutoring, leadership, supervisory, etc.).
