Physicist (Condensed Matter) | Remote

Contract role, remote, 10–40 hrs/week, $80–$160/hour.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret magnetic structure factors using propagation-vector methodologies.
• Identify and classify magnetic phases using theoretical and experimental data.
• Curate and validate magnetic space group assignments with reference to established datasets.
• Evaluate birefringence and magneto-optic Kerr effect signatures for selected materials.

Requirements

• Advanced academic background in condensed matter physics, specializing in magnetism.
• Proficiency in magnetic structure factor calculations and propagation-vector analysis.
• Experience classifying magnetic space groups with familiarity with MAGNDATA and BNS notation.
• Strong knowledge of neutron scattering techniques for magnetic structure determination.
• Ability to connect experimental signatures to underlying physical mechanisms.
