About the role

The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by HA Education Loan Repayment Services program after complete review of the EDRP application.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Anesthesia services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency conditions.
  • Provide peri-operative care including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic administration, and monitoring of post-anesthesia care in compliance with national accreditation standards; participates in Ward/ICU/Hospital rounds for surgical patients and other relevant activities.
  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to CRNA, Nursing, and other medical staff in the administration of the Anesthesia programs.
  • Involves with clinical care, bedside, and didactic teaching of residents, in consultation and collaboration with a wide variety of surgeons and other specialists; educating Residents and Students in the principles and therapy of basic and complex Anesthesia cases; including lecture.
  • Documents services through appropriate notes, such as History and Physical and Anesthesia Consultation notes.
  • Provides Morbidity and Mortality information and documentation as needed.
  • Fosters a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required.
