Physician-Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist
About the role
Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center of Ochsner Health System in Louisiana, is actively recruiting additional BC/BE Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist to join our group in NEW ORLEANS, LA.
Responsibilities
- Specialized expertise/interest in rare tumor types (which can include Cancer of unknown primary, Appendiceal cancer, Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, Sarcomas, Mesothelioma, Neuroendocrine tumors, Peritoneal Cancer, Salivary gland cancer, Melanoma, Testicular Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, and others)
- Supported by robust, collaborative multidisciplinary provider teams including surgical oncology subspecialties, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and advanced practitioners
- Dedicated clinical navigation team and support services including pharmacists (including pharmacogenomics), dieticians, psychologists, geneticists, social workers
- Dedicated subspecialty tumor boards including distinct molecular tumor board and weekly clinical trial tumor board- Next generation sequencing on all cases, cancer genomic testing, targeted therapies based on individual patient and tumor characteristics supported by strong precision medicine and molecular pathology programs.
- Academic track position with dedicated time for teaching, research, etc.
- Commitment to research: Identifying and overseeing clinical trials; testing new and innovative therapies. Strong research support including in-house bioinformatics, statistics, medical editing, and more. This includes research collaboration through the MD Anderson partnership.
Requirements
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology.
