Physician (Radiology-Diagnostic) - Assistant Chief

About the role

North Florida/ South Georgia VA Healthcare System's Imaging Service is seeking an experienced and well-rounded Radiologist-Assistant Chief. Ideal candidates are those who wish to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards and the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.

Responsibilities

- Strong general diagnostic radiology skill set including radiography, fluoroscopy, US, CT (including LDCT), and MRI. - Supervising and teaching residents and fellows. - Monitoring, organizing, and evaluating performance at all NFSG Centers. - Direct oversight of all staff providing imaging services, including radiologists, technologists, and other administrative staff. - Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor).

Requirements

- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. - Completion of residency training in Radiology-Diagnostic, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. - Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology. - Strong diagnostic radiology skill set including radiography, fluoroscopy, US, CT (including LDCT), and MRI. - Completion of a radiology fellowship (preferred but not required).

Qualifications

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. - Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. - Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d). - Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. - Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. -
