Physician (Radiologist)

Lt. Col. Luke Weathers Jr. VAMC in Memphis, TN is recruiting for a full-time Radiologist Physician. The position is accountable to the Chief of Radiology for assuring the most effective delivery of state-of-the-art care by meeting or exceeding compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide general and specialized diagnostic radiology services to patients, including patient assessment and diagnosis prior to performance of any diagnostic test or therapy.
• Assist/intervene with the referring physician for proper test/treatment selection and protocol.
• Interpret radiology scans and generate reports using voice recognition software, including general diagnostic radiographs, CT, US, MRI, nuclear medicine exams, and other diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
• Administer/supervise all drugs required for imaging examinations.
• Supervise technical aspects of all radiology practices at VAMC Memphis.
• Perform duties in compliance with VAMC Medical Staff bylaws, including participation in hospital or service committees.
• Participate in research activities.
• Share in call responsibilities as assigned.
• Serve as clinical director of a radiology section if needed.
• Draft protocols and procedures.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Qualifications

• Board certification by the American Board of Radiology is highly desired and will be given preference.
• Experience in all radiology modalities is highly desired.
• Experience in neuroradiology and biopsy is preferred.
