Physician -PT Occupational Medicine

About the role

UAB St. Vincent's is seeking an Occupational Medicine trained Physician for part-time coverage at their Honda plant. This position offers part-time work with part-time benefits, opportunities to oversee APPs in Georgia, and access to resources within the hospital network.

Responsibilities

• Occupational Injury care with a focus on difficult injuries and work-comp claims.
• Perform Fitness for Duty evaluations.
• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Manage and oversee work-comp claims, including causality statements, MMI/PPD, and collaboration with specialists.
• Collaborate with Safety, Ergonomics, and other departments at the site.
• Ensure the success of efforts to improve cost-effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Occasionally fill regular clinic duties with APP PTO, sickness, and vacancies.
• Accept patient referrals from other physicians.
• Act as admitting, attending, or consulting physician for patients requiring hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
• Participate in academic programs such as medical education and research.
• Provide appropriate documentation meeting insurance company requirements and appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultations, which may include on-call schedules.

Requirements

• Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician (MD/DO) credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.
• Advanced Life Support (AHA) certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree required.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
