Physician (Psychiatry)

About the role

The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System's Mental Health Service is searching for a full-time Psychiatrist at their Ocala, FL VA Clinic. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program; possess good organizational skills, demonstrates leadership in a patient centered program, and effective communication with patients, families, visitors.

Responsibilities

• Providing general adult psychiatric care.
• Conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consultations, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy; may also be expected to provide direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.
• Establishing professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics.
• Providing telephone and e-consult consultations as needed, and cooperating with and participating in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, and performance improvement activities as directed.
• Working a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor).

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
• Completed a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program (Psychiatry).

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
