Physician (Psychiatrist)

This is an open continuous announcement and will remain open until September 30, 2026. Applications will be reviewed weekly starting June 19, 2026, with referrals made as vacancies occur.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric care to veterans within the Veterans Health Administration.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage mental health conditions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Participate in academic training programs if applicable.

Requirements

• United States citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens are unavailable).
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs at the time of completion.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification in psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
• Currently employed VA physicians who met prior qualification standards at their initial appointment are deemed qualified.
