Responsibilities
- Serves as an Expert in the field of Psychiatry and helps supervise and manage difficult or complex cases.
- Evaluates medical records and works with Chiefs of various clinical services to provide professional direction.
- Provides treatment services in inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, routine outpatient, consultation liaison, and walk-in settings.
- Makes recommendations on major diagnostics and treatment plans, and exercises initiative in establishing evaluation techniques and developing treatment plans.
- Collaborates with other medical specialists on complex cases, provides professional consultation, supervision, and support to other professionals, and engages in military-specific liaison work.
- May be responsible for prescribing team members for BH care in forward locations, addressing higher levels of complexity such as PTSD, psychosis, and bipolar disorders.
- Directs Quality Assurance studies and makes decisions that impact the lives of others, such as recommending hospitalization or determining fitness for duty.
- Identifies patient treatment needs and arranges for a safe therapeutic outcome, and participates in special program assignments like training, research, and analysis.
- Communicates TRICARE requirements and benefits to beneficiaries, prepares and maintains medical records, and provides training to residents.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship required.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Completion of Residency in Psychiatry.
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a recognized state or territory.
- A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited school in the United States or Canada, or a foreign medical school with equivalent accreditation.
