This job is located at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX. The Carl R. Darnall Healthcare System provides evidence-based, patient- and family-focused care to military personnel, beneficiaries, and their families. Fort Hood, nicknamed "The Great Place," offers a high quality of life for Soldiers and their families. Responsibilities

• Serve as a recognized technical authority in delivering psychiatric medical care to a diverse demographic with a wide variety of psychiatric patient presentations, symptoms, conditions, and complexities.
• Develop treatment and rehabilitation plans, providing therapeutic services such as medication management, individual therapy modalities, group therapy, and emerging treatments.
• Provide appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers, including network providers, contractors, and patient assistance groups.
• Perform administrative and educational work, engaging in specialized scholarly activities encompassing diverse research methods.
• Recommend improvements to work methods and organizational features while serving on committees or working groups that review and establish new treatment guidelines or update mental health policies across the service component and Defense Health Agency (DHA).
• Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff, including psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers within the medical treatment facility (MTF).

Requirements

To qualify, you must meet the following education and experience requirements. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer experience through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) or other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, or social).

Qualifications

• Basic Requirement:
  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada, accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • A foreign medical degree must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. schools, evidenced by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
  • Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.
• Residency Training for GP-14: Successful completion of the required accredited residency training in Psychiatry and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not substitute for required residency training.
• Residency Training for GP-15: Successful completion of the required accredited residency training in Psychiatry and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 5 years. Experience may not substitute for required residency training.

Pay

Salary for physician positions is determined by a tier scale based on specialty, grade, and location. Starting salary is established after the initial job offer is accepted and reviewed by the Activity Compensation Panel, which adds base pay and market pay. The salary ranges are as follows:

• Tier 1: $121,020 - $300,000
• Tier 2: $145,000 - $320,000
• Tier 3: $165,000 - $336,000
