Physician -Primary Care (Lincoln CBOC)

About the role

The Nebraska Western Iowa VA-Lincoln, NE Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC) is recruiting for full time, permanent Primary Care Physician.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of primary care to patients enrolled at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System.
• Manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
• Work closely and coordinate patient care with other PACT teamlet members including nursing, clerical pharmacy, social worker, dietitian, etc.
• Participate in daily huddles with other teamlet staff and primary care systems redesign projects.
• Assign a panel of patients to manage under Primary Care Management Model (PCMM) guidelines.
• Supervise or collaborate with primary care mid-level providers.
• Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.
• Act as surrogate for absent primary care providers when needed, including reviewing CPRS view alerts.
• Regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings.
• Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy.
• All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion.
• Work within assigned privileges and follow Medical Bylaws.

Requirements

The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Former participants are ineligible to apply for the EDRP incentive.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Board Eligible/Certified Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Women's Health (preferred).
• Physical Requirements: You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position.
