About the role

The Nebraska Western Iowa VA-Lincoln, NE Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC) is recruiting for full time, permanent Primary Care Physician Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of primary care to patients enrolled at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System.
  • Manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  • Work closely and coordinate patient care with other PACT teamlet members including nursing, clerical pharmacy, social worker, dietitian, etc.
  • Participate in daily huddles with other teamlet staff and primary care systems redesign projects.
  • Assign a panel of patients to manage under Primary Care Management Model (PCMM) guidelines.
  • Supervise or collaborate with primary care mid-level providers.
  • Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.
  • Act as surrogate for absent primary care providers when needed, including reviewing CPRS view alerts.
  • Regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings.
  • Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy.
  • Follow the Medical Bylaws.

Requirements

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam).
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • Three years of successful practice as a PA or successful completion of a PA post-graduate residency program sponsored by VHA Office of Academic Affiliations or other postgraduate residency programs accredited by VA, ARC-PA, U.S. Armed Forces, or another accrediting agency and one year of professional practice as a PA.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, No Weekends

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
