SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Physician Primary Care will execute the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, and community-based comprehensive primary care.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
- Collaborate with the Chief Clinical Officer; Associate Medical Director(s), Psychiatry; Medical Director, Infectious Disease; Director, Addiction Services; Director, Laboratory Services; and the Chief Operating Officer to develop/plan/operationalize emerging clinical models and workflows, including the clinical processes in the integration efforts of Primary Care with Behavioral Health/Substance Use Disorder Treatment.
- Lead the Primary Medicine departmental optimization efforts to increase access to Signature Health patients as well as patients from the surrounding area.
- Contribute to implementation of the electronic health record, including monitoring/developing of process improvements within the EHR.
- Work with Senior Leadership to implement the organizational Quality Plan and achievement of Patient Centered Medical Home designation.
- Provide input on the development and execution of the strategic plan of Signature Health.
- Review operational reports on a regular basis and provide input on strategies to modify/sustain performance related to clinical operations.
- In consultation with the Director of Laboratory Services, act as the medical director of Point of Care laboratory services.
- Lead and participate in other organizational projects, committees, meetings as needed.
- Lead the Peer Review process for all Primary Medicine providers.
- Share responsibility, along with the CMO and the Director, Quality, in overseeing Quality Improvement efforts.
- Work with Senior Leadership to allocate required resources to clinical departments to ensure clinical department success.
- Partner with the CMO to provide/develop strategies to continually monitor provider productivity/revenue and to strategize corrective actions if expectations are not met.
- Provide direct patient care for patients as determined by business needs.
- Provide appropriate clinical consultations to colleagues; Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurses.
- Provide on call coverage for after-hours emergencies and critical labs values as assigned.
- Oversee student rotations –Medical/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant students and Residents.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Ohio Licensed Physician, in good standing upon effective date of employment
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG)
- Current DEA registration
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records with demonstrated ability to learn new platforms
- Experience in a Community Health Center preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
- While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
- Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
- Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
- Physical environment requires the employee to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes under a covered tent, in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
- Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
