Physician - Pediatric Inpatient Cardiologist
About the role
We seek a BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist to lead our inpatient cardiology service at Ochsner Children’s Hospital. Responsibilities include managing the inpatient care in the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service, which includes a 67-bed Level IV NICU. The role involves teaching medical students and residents, participating in quality improvement activities through national registries (PC4, PAC3), and supporting a comprehensive heart center with 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 6 cardiac intensivists.
Responsibilities
- Lead inpatient care in the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service
- Manage a 67-bed Level IV NICU
- Teach medical students and residents
- Participate in quality improvement activities through national registries (PC4, PAC3)
- Support a comprehensive heart center with 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 6 cardiac intensivists
- Manage a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU
- Support a 24/7 dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport team
- Engage in academic appointments at the University of Queensland and Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM)
- Participate in numerous research studies and multi-center trials
- Publish hundreds of research papers annually
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A BC/BE certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
- Experience in managing complex pediatric cardiac cases
- Strong clinical skills and leadership abilities
- Excellent communication and teaching skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have:
- An MD degree
- A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana
- Completion of an accredited ACGME/ACGME-approved pediatric residency program
- Completion of an accredited ACGME/ACGME-approved pediatric cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (preferred)

Pay
The salary range for this position is $300,000 - $350,000 annually.
Schedule
The schedule for this role is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage as needed.
