About the role

We seek a BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist to lead our inpatient cardiology service at Ochsner Children’s Hospital. Responsibilities include managing the inpatient care in the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service, which includes a 67-bed Level IV NICU. The role involves teaching medical students and residents, participating in quality improvement activities through national registries (PC4, PAC3), and supporting a comprehensive heart center with 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 6 cardiac intensivists.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inpatient care in the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service
  • Manage a 67-bed Level IV NICU
  • Teach medical students and residents
  • Participate in quality improvement activities through national registries (PC4, PAC3)
  • Support a comprehensive heart center with 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 6 cardiac intensivists
  • Manage a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU
  • Support a 24/7 dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport team
  • Engage in academic appointments at the University of Queensland and Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM)
  • Participate in numerous research studies and multi-center trials
  • Publish hundreds of research papers annually

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A BC/BE certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
  • Experience in managing complex pediatric cardiac cases
  • Strong clinical skills and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • An MD degree
  • A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana
  • Completion of an accredited ACGME/ACGME-approved pediatric residency program
  • Completion of an accredited ACGME/ACGME-approved pediatric cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (preferred)

Pay

The salary range for this position is $300,000 - $350,000 annually.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage as needed.
