Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiologist

Two vacancies are available for this position. One vacancy includes a portion of time dedicated to serving as the Director of Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology.

About the role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiologist to join the nationally recognized Division of Cardiology. This full- or part-time (50%-100%) position requires onsite work at a designated campus location and is classified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations, requiring an initial caregiver check under Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years thereafter.

Applicants will be considered for titles including Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Assistant Professor (CHS), Visiting Professor, or Visiting Associate Professor, with the final title determined by experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health, working collegially with other faculty.
• Engage in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
• Provide leadership opportunities within the Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology team or the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, based on previous leadership experience.
• Deliver pediatric inpatient acute cardiac care at American Family Children’s Hospital, UnityPoint Meriter Hospital, and general cardiology clinics at designated regional locations, including remote contracted inpatient call and imaging coverage.
• Carry out independent research or scholarly activity in an area of interest (applicable to the CHS track).

Requirements

• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology through the American Board of Pediatrics by the appointment start date.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology by the appointment start date.
• Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program by the start date of the position.
• WI Medical license by the start date of the position.
• Board certification in Pediatrics by the start date of the position.
• Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the start date.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and a commitment to patient- and family-centered practice.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to education, quality improvement, and collaborative care.

Preferred Qualifications

• For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT track, candidates must meet criteria outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment.

Qualifications

MD, DO, or equivalent is required.
