Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
- Executes direct patient care tasks, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge and follow-up instructions.
- Prepares patients for physician consultation and documents all pertinent information in the patient’s medical record.
- Carries out specialized tests and administers medications and injections as directed by the physician.
- Assists in scheduling testing and referral appointments and provides patient education.
- Communicates with patients via phone, addressing issues or referring calls to the physician.
- Follows up with patients as necessary and maintains examination room cleanliness and equipment.
- Maintains medical supply inventory, checks expiration dates, and orders supplies.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of all equipment used in the practice.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Computer skills are required.
