Physician Office - FT - LPN - Florence Neurosurgery and Spine

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
• Executes direct patient care tasks, including but not limited to triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge and follow-up instructions.
• Prepares patients for physician consultations.
• Formulates initial databases by collecting pertinent information through communication with patients and families, observation, and objective evaluation.
• Documents all relevant information in the patient’s medical record.
• Carries out specialized tests such as audiometry, electrocardiography, inhalation treatments, and certain laboratory procedures.
• Administers medications and provides injections as directed by the physician.
• Supports physicians during treatments and procedures.
• Provides patient education tailored to the situation.
• Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients.
• Communicates with patients via phone, addressing issues or referring calls to the physician.
• Follows up with patients as necessary.
• Cleans and straightens examination rooms according to OSHA standards.
• Maintains medical supply inventory, checks expiration dates on drugs and vaccines, and disposes of outdated medications.
• Orders medical supplies and assists with drug representative visits.
• Keeps abreast of new equipment and performs routine maintenance.
• Contributes to a positive learning environment by encouraging colleagues’ educational pursuits.
• Participates in quality assurance reviews of patient care.
• Engages in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
• Promotes the practice mission and philosophy.
• Projects a positive image of the practice.
• Assumes responsibilities of other department personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• Computer skills are required.
• Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Basic Life Support certification.
