About the Position

This position is located at Naval Health Clinic Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. Serve as a Physician (Occupational Medicine), located in Directorate of Clinical Support Occupational Medicine Branch at Naval Health Clinic Charleston in Charleston, SC. Hours are Monday-Friday between the hours of 0630-1600. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities

• Perform occupational physical examinations of various types including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and any other special employee examinations that may be required.
• Congratulates with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees.
• Notify management of exam results and recommends appropriate work restrictions/accommodations.
• Interpret ancillary test results for evidence of possible occupational disease or confounding personal health conditions.
• Diagnoses and appropriately consults for follow-up evaluations for conditions discovered as a result of the occupational medical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats on-the-job illnesses and injuries and stabilizes and transfers those suffering from urgent or potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
• Aids in self-care transfer activities.
• Conducts periodic worksite visits.
• Develops and oversees medical surveillance and medical qualification programs.
• Serves as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and boards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirement: Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Preventive Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, Occupational Medicine) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.
