Physician OB/GYN
General Summary of Duties
Southern Crescent is seeking a Physician OBGYN who provides comprehensive women’s healthcare services in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including obstetric and gynecologic care. Responsible for managing routine and high-risk pregnancies, performing surgical procedures, and delivering patient-centered care. Participates in call coverage and supports a collaborative care model.
Supervision Received
Reports to Practice CEO and Chief OB Leadership.
Supervision Exercised
Provides clinical supervision to Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
Essential Functions
- Conduct well-woman exams, prenatal/postpartum visits, and gynecologic evaluations
- Diagnose and manage obstetric and gynecologic conditions, including high-risk complex patients
- Perform in-office and surgical procedures (e.g., biopsies, hysterectomy, cesarean sections)
- Participate in 24-hour call rotation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
- Supervise and support CNMs and NPs, including chart reviews and consultations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EHR system
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and clinical standards (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
Education
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency program
- Prior clinical experience in a similar setting preferred
Requirements
- Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Ability to obtain and maintain Medicare, Medicaid, and payer credentialing with the practice’s participating insurance and managed care plans
- Active and unrestricted medical license (or eligibility)
- DEA registration and prescribing authority
- Eligibility for hospital privileges
- Proficiency with Epic EHR system
