Physician-Neurosurgeon

Job Duties

• Treat neurological problems with surgeries and medications.
• Perform full array of neurosurgical procedures, including neuro-oncology surgeries.
• Examine patient clinical history, choose, order and perform appropriate diagnostic tests and interpret results.
• Consult with physicians, nurses, patients and patients’ families concerning treatment and care and transmission risks, prophylaxis and precautions.
• Refer cases to specialists as indicated, maintaining continuity of care.
• Provide medical direction to healthcare staff and assist in developing and implementing education, training and in-service programs for the healthcare staff.
• Maintain patient records according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Remain a member of the active staff of hospitals.
• Provide call coverage.

Requirements

• License to practice medicine in Louisiana
• Completion of a neurosurgery residency

Qualifications

Education Required: M.D. or D.O.
