Physician (Internal Medicine) - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive/EDRP Authorized

The VA North Texas Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Physician (Internal Medicine) for the Bonham, Texas location.

Relocation Incentive may be authorized to highly qualified candidates.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Responsibilities

• Provide independent care delivery for chronic, acute/same day medical needs.
• Evaluate, track, and follow up on patient care according to established policies and standards of care/standards of practice.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to manage the longitudinal case of the PCP's entire PACT panel, including acute/same day needs.
• Write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services, and utilize computerized/electronic medical records.
• Conduct Health risk Assessments, set prevention goals, and manage chronic diseases.
• Perform medication reconciliation and document all medical information in an electronic medical record.
• Oversee PACT compliance with Message Manager, MyHealtheVet, and encounter completion.
• Utilize Tele-Health for home visits (VA Video Connect) and Comprehensive Women's Health care.

Requirements

• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completed residency training in an approved program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Qualifications

• Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
• Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
• Completed residency training in an approved program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Experience in strategic planning, implementation of primary care delivery systems, and improving health outcomes.
• Leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Expertise in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and evidence-based practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, essential for developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• In-depth knowledge of VA policies, regulations, and systems, or equivalent experience in a comparable healthcare setting.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and vision for advancing primary care services in alignment with the mission of the VA North Texas Health Care System.

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).
