About the role

We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist to join our growing group at Ochsner Health. The position offers ample on-site multi-disciplinary resources, a robust clinical trial portfolio, and opportunities for academic and/or department leadership development.

Responsibilities

  • Practice focusing on cancers of the GI tract including gastro-esophageal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, neuroendocrine, anal and colorectal malignancies.
  • Participate in multiple GI cancer tumor boards for subspecialized care planning.
  • Collaborate with GI medical oncology advanced practitioners, GI radiation oncologist, surgical oncologists, and colorectal surgeons.
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to the development of the program.
  • Teach fellows and residents and participate in educational activities.
  • Contribute to the education and training of hematology/oncology fellows at Ochsner (four per year).

Requirements

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology. Subspecialty interest is encouraged but not required for consideration for the New Orleans Main Campus positions.

Qualifications

  • MD degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology residency program.
  • Completion of a subspecialty fellowship in Medical Oncology preferred.
  • Experience in gastrointestinal oncology is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
