Physician (Gastroenterology)

Duties

• Commitment to excellence in patient care and an interest in teaching are essential.
• A record of contribution to the scientific literature is preferred.
• A willingness to participate in clinical trials.
• Participation in outpatient clinic services including fellows, clinic, and inpatient consult service.
• Reduction of in-patient care demands on subspecialty divisions.
• Providing complex coronary angioplasty, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, structural heart procedures, and Mohs surgery.
• Offering remote care through telehealth and video visits.
• Performing advanced endoscopy procedures if it fits the candidate's interest and expertise.
• Engaging in quality improvement activities and complying with agency, facility, and department rules and regulations.
• Supporting a satisfactory process for supervision and training of fellows, residents, and medical students from the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
• Maintaining American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
• Complying with VA and SAVACHS regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States.
• Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• One year of post-medical school training (internship, first year of residency, or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA, followed by two years of post-training independent practice in the United States.
• Non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the United States.
• Approved residencies include those approved by the ACGME or AOA in the list published for the year the residency or fellowship was completed.
• Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).
• Exceptional circumstances may allow for reasonable exceptions to the residency training requirement for Physicians whose composite record of experience, accomplishments, performance, and qualifications warrant such action.
