Qualifications
To qualify for this position - you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.
Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Duties
Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to patients presenting with gastrointestinal or liver disease in inpatient, outpatient, and consult services.
Perform endoscopic and non-endoscopic gastrointestinal procedures as delineated in the clinical privileges (upon receiving approval).
Cook up patient care by effective communication with PCP, inpatient, ED, and outside services.
Coordinate patient care by effective communication with PCP, inpatient, ED, and outside services.
Engage in direct patient contact or perform tasks defined by statute or recognized custom of medical practice within the bounds of state law as defined by the board of professional licensure.
