Requirements
- Licensed physician and graduate of an approved medical school.
- Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology required.
- Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners;
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from American Heart Association;
- Board Certified / Eligible in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Medical Specialties;
- Must obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges;
- Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs;
- Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in hospital's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence in:
- Outpatient and inpatient practice including longitudinal management of complicated cirrhotic (pre- and post-transplant), liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and general gastrointestinal complaints;
- Team management including supervising and directing advanced practice clinicians;
- Screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic colonoscopy including biopsy, snare polypectomy and the use of argon plasma coagulation;
- Screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic EGD including esophageal dilation (balloon and Savary), PEG placement and management of acute variceal and on-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding using banding, sclerotherapy, cautery, and clipping techniques;
- Esophageal function testing including high resolution esophageal manometry and esophageal pH studies;
- Interpretation of video capsule enteroscopy.
Preferred
- Advanced Endoscopic Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence in:
- THERAPEUTIC ERCP including biliary and pancreatic duct cannulation, management of choledocholithiasis and biliary strictures;
- DIGITAL EUS, including fine needle aspiration;
- (Optional) Management of pancreatic pseudocyst including endoscopic pseudocystgastrostomy placement.
