Physician Executive

Corewell Health is seeking a dedicated physician to join our team in Royal Oak, Michigan.

About the role

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of health problems presented by patients. You will develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.

Demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care for both internal and external customers while striving to exceed expectations. Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals through timely completion of competencies and annual organizational mandatories.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
• Provide quality medical services in a cost-effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of caseload at all times.
• Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient’s condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge.
• Document medical services in the patient’s medical record consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in on-call and weekend coverage as required by the Department.
• Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives as required by the Department.
• Engage in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care.
• Participate in ongoing process improvement activities, including clinical paths and related initiatives.
• Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assessing clinical safety and efficacy data consistent with Research Institute policies.
• Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses), students, and others providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with affiliated medical schools as requested.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree (MD or DO) required.
• Active Michigan state license as a Physician (MD) or Osteopathic Physician (DO) upon hire.
• DEA Registration in the state of Michigan upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) within 120 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 120 days of hire.

• Full-time position.
• Day shift.

• Hours of work: 40.
• Days worked: Monday to Friday.
• Weekend frequency: Variable weekends.
