Physician - Emergency Medicine - Pediatrics
About the role
Sanford USD Medical Center Emergency Department is seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Emergency Medicine Trained Physician, with either board certification in general pediatrics or adult emergency medicine, to join their group.
The position will work alongside 22 EM physicians and 6 APPs, and will be part of the current group of 4 PEM fellowship trained physicians.
The department is Level I Verified Adult & Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 46,000+ encounters per year (adult + pediatric), and receives 6,000 pediatric emergency department visits per year.
There are 15 shifts per month, with current shift hours of 0800-1700 & 1600-0000. The opportunity exists to participate in both clinical practice and academic medicine.
A new Pediatric Emergency Department is scheduled to open in January 2026, featuring 10 dedicated rooms including a trauma bay, adjacent to the main ED (which has 32 beds).
The Emergency Medicine Residency program is launching in July 2026, with the inaugural EM residents collaborating closely with pediatric residents from both SD and ND.
The Children’s Hospital is a 146-bed state-of-the-art tertiary care center with 80+ sub-specialists, including a 58-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a 12-bed Pediatric ICU.
The AirMed Program includes 2 fixed-wing planes and 1 helicopter.
