At the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC), we're looking for a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician who wants to practice in a high-acuity, physician-led environment where collaboration is second nature and careers are built for the long term.
About the Role
Our Emergency Department transitioned to a hospital-employed model last year, but our culture remains the same. Our physician leadership remains intact, and many of our providers have spent their entire careers here. We've created a community where physicians are valued, supported, and empowered to deliver exceptional care.
Responsibilities
- Practice in a high-acuity, physician-led Emergency Department serving a diverse patient population.
- Work in a community setting with outstanding consultant relationships and strong subspecialty support.
- Manage both medical and pediatric patients, including pediatric trauma and injuries.
- Collaborate with a 24/7 Advanced Practice Provider team and 24/7 Emergency Department Pharmacist.
- Lead physician-led scheduling, quality initiatives, and departmental operations.
- Enjoy a full-time schedule of 172 shifts annually (approximately 14 shifts per month) with 8–8.5 patient-facing hours per shift.
Requirements
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
- Current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
- Experience in a high-acuity emergency department setting preferred.

Compensation
Base salary: $225,000–$241,000 for a 0.9 FTE (based on experience)
Guaranteed base salary plus a robust productivity and efficiency distribution
Additional earnings through:
