Responsibilities

  • Promptly assess patients who present to the ED for care.
  • Order appropriate medical tests and treatments.
  • Develop a patient treatment plan.
  • Oversee patient care, treatment, and recovery.
  • Admit, treat, and discharge patients in accordance with current standards of care and established policies/procedures.
  • Respond to patient needs including responding to patient phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Document care provided and authenticate medical records/related reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete and submit all encounter forms on a timely basis.
  • Ensure appropriate level of coding and compliance with government and third-party regulations regarding documentation, including teaching physician rules.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists.
  • Conduct assessment and re-assessment of patient based on patient condition.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff and other providers.
  • Provide discharge instructions and prepare relevant documents.
  • Performs duties according to approved policies and procedures relating to CMS/Joint Commission, OSHA, Universal Body Fluid presentations and other regulatory body standards.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (M.D.), or D.O. degree from an accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine required.
  • Current and valid Illinois license as a physician.
  • Current and valid DEA and IL Controlled Substance license.
  • AOBEM or ABEM board certification.
