Responsibilities
- Promptly assess patients who present to the ED for care.
- Order appropriate medical tests and treatments.
- Develop a patient treatment plan.
- Oversee patient care, treatment, and recovery.
- Admit, treat, and discharge patients in accordance with current standards of care and established policies/procedures.
- Respond to patient needs including responding to patient phone calls in a timely manner.
- Document care provided and authenticate medical records/related reports in a timely manner.
- Complete and submit all encounter forms on a timely basis.
- Ensure appropriate level of coding and compliance with government and third-party regulations regarding documentation, including teaching physician rules.
- Refer patients to appropriate specialists.
- Conduct assessment and re-assessment of patient based on patient condition.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff and other providers.
- Provide discharge instructions and prepare relevant documents.
- Performs duties according to approved policies and procedures relating to CMS/Joint Commission, OSHA, Universal Body Fluid presentations and other regulatory body standards.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree (M.D.), or D.O. degree from an accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine required.
- Current and valid Illinois license as a physician.
- Current and valid DEA and IL Controlled Substance license.
- AOBEM or ABEM board certification.
