Physician - Critical Care Pulmonologist

About the role

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking clinical faculty for Internal Medicine Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine division who will primarily provide hospital-based clinical services for patients cared for at Chandler and Good Samaritan Hospitals and the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine division’s clinical service. Clinical service responsibilities will be divided among assignments caring for the critically ill in our Medical Intensive Care units (MICU) in the UK HealthCare hospitals, and managing patients in outpatient clinics.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services at Chandler and Good Samaritan Hospitals and the division’s clinical service
• Care for critically ill patients in Medical Intensive Care units (MICU)
• Manage patients in outpatient clinics
• Teach pulmonary fellows, residents and students during consult service and inpatient services
• Participate in the Department’s courses for medical students
• Actively participate and lead division and department clinical activities
• Serve on clinical committees that enhance patient care and clinical practice operations

About the Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest in the College of Medicine and at the University of Kentucky with approximately 334 faculty, 157 staff, 214 residents and fellows, and 203 advanced practice providers. The department has 14 clinical divisions and 2 non-clinical divisions within its scope. The department of internal medicine is led by Dr. Darwin L. Conwell, MD, MS, FACG and departmental leaders including Vice Chairs, Associate Vice Chairs, and the Office of the Chair Administration team. Internal Medicine faculty secure over $35 million in grant funding annually to pursue cutting-edge research and discoveries, supporting projects in all internal medicine subspecialties. The department has published 287 peer-reviewed articles in the past year and maintains more than 50 active clinical trials and 240 active grants and contracts. The Department of Internal Medicine has 211 faculty who are actively involved in research activities and supervise biomedical learners, including PhD and master’s students, to gain in-depth experience in high-impact research labs.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent
• Completion of residency in Internal Medicine
• Completion of fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care
• Board certified in Internal Medicine
• Board eligible in pulmonary/critical care Medicine
