About the role
With minimal supervision, the Physician Center Clerk (PCC) is responsible for providing all aspects of clerical support to the patient care team, working collaboratively with all staff members of the physician center.
Responsibilities
- Answers phone and enters phone notes.
- Opens and distributes incoming mail and faxes.
- Updates all demographic information at check-in.
- Scans test results into the electronic medical record.
- Schedules patient appointments in IDX.
- Collects co-payments and outstanding balances.
- Coordinates referral process.
- Prepares mailings identified by manager or physician.
- Responsible for "end of day" duties to include appointment reconciliation and cash accounting.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to operate various office machines including a Personal Computer, fax, copier, etc.
- Customer service oriented.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
- Basic insurance knowledge (preferred).
LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
