About the role

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland is seeking a per-diem Physician Associate (PA) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to provide care in the hospital and Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, Maine.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and treating patients primarily on the hospital medicine ward
  • Completing admissions and providing consultative services to various sub-specialties within the hospital, including the emergency department
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team of physicians, nursing staff, care management, and ancillary services to ensure optimal patient care
  • Participating in quality initiative programs within the department of hospital medicine

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited Physician Associate or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligibility for licensure
  • Experience in hospital medicine preferred, not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively triage, organize, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to function as part of a team and maintain confidentiality

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Associate or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program
  • Hold a current license to practice in the State of Maine or be eligible for licensure
  • Experience in hospital medicine is desired but not required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and teamwork
