About the role

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our Waco – Hewitt clinic. This role is a great fit for a clinician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and meaningful patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. At NextCare, you will treat patients of all ages while being supported by experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership. Our full-time schedule is designed with work-life balance in mind. Providers typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, with no after-hours work and schedules released in advance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs
  • Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, I&D, and other procedures as applicable
  • Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
  • Code and bill services appropriately
  • Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
  • Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • PA: NCCPA certification
  • NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
  • Active DEA license or ability to obtain
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages
  • Active BLS certification
  • EHR proficiency
  • Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D
  • Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
  • Comfortable working independently in a busy urgent care environment
