About the Role
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Waco, Texas. This role is ideal for a clinician who values variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.
Schedule
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Standard clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, seven days a week
- Occasional weekends and holidays
Pay
$60–$80/hour, based on experience, plus bonus potential

Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and other urgent care procedures as applicable
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
- PA: NCCPA certification
- Active DEA license, or ability to obtain
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
- DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
