About the role

The Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking an Electrophysiology (EP) Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP) to join a progressive and expanding program. The role involves diagnosing, managing, and treating complex cardiac arrhythmias, performing outpatient procedures, and collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret ECGs and diagnose cardiac rhythm disorders
  • Prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
  • Monitor and adjust medications for complex cardiac arrhythmias
  • Perform routine (CIED) testing and reprogramming
  • Review, interpret, and manage CIED remote transmissions
  • Facilitate outpatient therapeutic procedures including cardiac implanted electronic devices (CIEDs)
  • Provide patient education and lifestyle modifications
  • Support inpatient EP consultation service
  • Collaborate with inpatient multi-disciplinary team including Cardiologist/Intensivist/Hospitalists/Medical Staff
  • Initiate patient care meetings with the health care team
  • Support EP peri-operative services
  • Manage post-operative complications
  • Manage loop recorder implantation or learning to perform first assist EP procedures

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
  • Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
  • Certified or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse through AACN or ANCC
  • Cardiology experience preferred, especially in Electrophysiology
  • Cardiac device management experience highly preferred

Qualifications

  • Basic EP procedural first assist skills preferred
  • Proactive attitude toward acquiring new competencies encouraged
  • Participate in total quality management to positively affect patient and system outcomes

Skills

  • Keen ability to interpret ECGs and diagnose cardiac rhythm disorders
  • Ability to effectively interpret medical data and develop treatment plans
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Basic understanding of EP procedures including cardiac device implants and cardiac ablation
  • Basic knowledge of EP procedural first assist skills
