Physician Assistant Critical Care - Anesthesia Critical Care
About the role
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be an integral member of the Surgical and Anesthesia Intensive Care Unit (SAICU) critical care team, working closely with attending physicians, residents, and the current physician assistant to provide high-quality care to critically ill surgical patients.
Responsibilities
- Participating in daily multidisciplinary rounds
- Cooking specialty consultations
- Maintaining communication with surgical teams
- Assisting residents with order placement, procedures, and patient disposition
- Supporting resident and medical student education by providing orientation and teaching during ICU rotations
- Providing in-house coverage during high-volume evening hours
- Participating in the overnight call rotation
- Collaborating with nursing staff on quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment
- National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Acute critical care certification focus is preferred
