Who Can Serve as a Preceptor?

• Physician Assistants/Associates (PA)
• Physicians (MD/DO)
• Nurse Practitioners (NP)
• Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM)
• Licensed healthcare providers qualified in their area of instruction such as Psychologists and LCSWs

Required Qualifications

• Current, active state licensure in the state where the rotation will be completed
• If a PA, current NCCPA certification
• If a MD or DO, prior or current board certification in the area of practice
• If a non-physician or non-PA, current board certification or licensure
• Minimum one year of full-time clinical experience within specialty

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic or team-based experience
• Prior teaching or precepting experience
