Physician Assistant - Breast Surgery - Edmond

INTEGRIS Health Breast Surgery is located in Edmond on the campus of INTEGRIS Health Edmond, 4509 INTEGRIS Parkway, Suite 300. Our surgeons are board certified, fellowship trained, dedicated to helping patients through life-changing, stressful times by providing state-of-the-art medical care for breast cancer and breast surgery. The practice specializes in diagnosing breast disease and creating personalized treatment plans, including breast-conserving surgeries, risk-reducing mastectomies, and diagnostic breast surgery. The team works collaboratively with medical oncologists, genetics counselors, breast radiation oncologists, pathologists, rehabilitation therapists, plastic surgeons, case managers, and social workers to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This position provides comprehensive clinical care, medical consultation, genetic counseling, and ongoing follow-up for patients within the breast surgery specialty practice. Working collaboratively with the breast surgeon and the multidisciplinary care team, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) supports timely evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and continuity of care across the breast care continuum. Experience working with oncologists, high-risk genetics, oncology education, rehabilitation, surgical interventions, and/or assisting in the OR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and completes a detailed patient assessment.
• Diagnoses actual or potential health problems or needs based on data analysis and plans therapeutic intervention.
• Orders and initiates appropriate laboratory tests, medications, treatments, and consultations.
• Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing (excluding tendons, arteries, or nerves), wound care, venous and arterial blood draws, and manages simple conditions caused by infection, trauma, or other disease processes.
• Educates patients regarding prescribed treatments and medications.
• Maintains timely documentation of patient medical records.
• Ensures all necessary patient tests (e.g., pre-op labs, EKGs, x-rays) are completed prior to surgery (Neurosurgical only).
• Assists physicians in surgery, including wound closure, fitting braces, post-op orders, and wound care (Neurosurgical only).
• Makes rounds as requested by physicians and completes patient discharge summaries (Neurosurgical only).
• Assists in triage and initiates radiographic and laboratory studies for patients in the Emergency Department or Minor Care (ER only).
• May examine, treat, and disposition patients in triage under direct physician supervision (ER only).
• Responsible for patient assessment following therapeutic holds per state and federal regulations (Mental Health only).

This position may have additional or varied physical demands and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Potential for exposure to infections, communicable diseases, blood, body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Standard precautions must be followed.

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Oklahoma.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• One year of experience in a surgery setting preferred (Neurosurgical only).
• One year of experience in a comprehensive emergency department setting preferred (ER only).
• Current ACLS certification required for adult acute care environments (NZTI only).
• Current PALS certification required for pediatric acute care environments (NZTI only).
