Position Summary
Aids the physician in patient care and education.
Key Performance Areas
- Assesses physical and psychosocial status of patients through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
- Writes prescriptions for medications, blood products, and other treatments based on laboratory results and practice protocols.
- Determines patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
- Interprets and evaluates study/test findings and communicates patient care information to collaborating physicians.
- Administers therapeutic measures and collects specimens as prescribed.
- Drafts follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plans.
- Documents patient care accurately and promptly using appropriate forms and records.
- Manages family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care.
- Participates in daily multi-disciplinary rounds to ensure quality patient care.
- Triage patients to prioritize urgent evaluations.
- Reports care details in an accurate and timely manner.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a changing healthcare environment.
- Provides on-call coverage and performs hospital rounds as needed.
- Communicates with the public and promotes cancer treatment.
- Determines work priorities and assigns tasks to ensure proper completion.
- Complies with relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
- Adheres to company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Trains new employees on related job duties.
- May travel to various locations to support business needs.
Position Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current license/registration to practice in the state of employment.
- Prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
- Certification from ARC-PA.
- BLS certification.
- Fluency in English with verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership and analytical skills.
- Fiscal skills to manage costs and revenue.
- Sound judgment and discretion in decision-making.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to clinics.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
