PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON, CF (IM/FP) - SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FACILITY (SATF)
About the role
Under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF), the Physician & Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice), provides medical care to patients in a correctional facility. The Physician & Surgeon, CF (IM/FP), performs medical assessments and provides medical treatment on assigned patients as appropriate and as authorized by the medical license. The Physician & Surgeon, CF (IM/FP) provides clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff and instructs nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols and adheres to professional medical standards of care. The Physician & Surgeon, CF (IM/FP) is assigned on call duties.
This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical care to patients in a correctional facility
- Perform medical assessments and provide medical treatment on assigned patients as appropriate and as authorized by the medical license
- Provide clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff
- Instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols
- Adhere to professional medical standards of care
- Participate in on-call duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Physician and Surgeon license
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
- Ability to perform medical assessments and provide treatment as authorized by medical license
Pay
- Employees in this class, employed within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and who are physically located and assigned to this institution, shall receive a pay differential equivalent to 15% of their monthly base pay
- The authorized Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) rate for this classification is: P $26,677, Q $28,156, R $29,640
- Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. Each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 16, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and will receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis
