This position is located at the Substance Abuse and Treatment Facility in Corcoran, CA, Kings County. This is a limited-term position which may be extended or become permanent. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces base salary by 3% and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 17 and related groups. Part-time and intermittent employees are subject to prorated conditions.

About the Role

Under the supervision of a Supervising Psychiatric Physician, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive behavioral and mental health services, including psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management. PMHNPs are certified advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) with master’s, post-master’s, or doctoral degrees specializing in psychiatric mental health care. The role functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure timely access to care, continuity of services, and compliance with CCHCS policies and evidence-based psychiatric practice standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for incarcerated individuals.
  • Manage medication regimens and monitor patient progress.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Adhere to CCHCS policies and evidence-based psychiatric practice standards.
  • Support rehabilitative and restorative justice programs to promote successful community reintegration.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Master’s, post-master’s, or doctoral degree specializing in psychiatric mental health care.
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in California.

Benefits
