Physician - Acute Care Surgery - Grand Rapids, MI

About the role

The Division of Acute Care Surgery at Corewell Health West is seeking its twentieth acute care surgeon to join a well-established and growing service line at one of the busiest acute care surgery programs in the country.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care
• Participate in the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) and the Michigan Trauma Quality Improvement Program
• Engage with the Michigan Acute Care Surgery database for performance improvement and patient safety
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and fellows to lead and delegate effectively
• Communicate clearly and consistently, particularly at handoff and across service lines
• Contribute to the division in ways that extend beyond excellent clinical care

Requirements

• BC/BE - Surgical Critical Care and General Surgery
• Licensed - Michigan
• MD/DO

Qualifications

• Board Certified In General Surgery And In Surgical Critical Care (Eligible Is OK If You Are a New Graduate)
• Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Comfortable triaging competing demands across a busy service
• Communicates clearly and consistently
• Values performance improvement and patient safety as the foundation of a well-functioning program
